Massachusetts

On February 6, 1788, Massachusetts was declared the sixth colony of America. Boston is the capitol of the seventh state of the United States.

A minute man which is based on a statue in Massachusetts is in the center of the quarter. An outline of the state of Massachusetts and a star that represents the capitol, Boston, are carved in the background. Also, "The Bay State", which is Massachusetts's nickname, is written on the quarter. Two seventh grade students submitted their idea into a school contest. Their design won and was mailed to the United States Treasury. The quarter was then chosen to represent the state of Massachusetts.

This quarter came out in the year 2000.
