Carbon Monoxide is a colorless, odorless, tasteless, and extremely poisonous gas and is produced when fuel such as natural gas, oil, coal, or wood does not burn completely. Carbon Monoxide prevents hemoglobin from supplying oxygen to the body. Early symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning include drowsiness and headache, followed by unconsciousness, respiratory failure, and death. It is estimated that more than 1,500 people die each year as a result of accidental CO exposure. |

Radon is a colorless, odorless gas and also is a radioactive element. Radon is a heavy gas, and is produced by the radioactive decay of radium in the earth crust. Radon can seep from soil and rock into water and air in a house. Radon causes cell damage and may lead to cancer. Radon is estimated to cause about 14,000 deaths per year. |
