Anubis

Anubis was a man with a jackel’s head. Anubis weighed people’s hearts in a test to see if they were worthy for the after-life. Anubis had three important jobs. He was the supervisor of embalming bodies. He took the mummy into its tomb and performed the Opening of the Mouth ceremony and then conducted the soul in the Field of Celestial Offerings. Most importantly though, Anubis monitored the Scales of Truth to protect the dead from perception and eternal death. Anubis was the original god of the dead. Osiris took over as he got more and more popular. Anubis was the son of Nephthys and Osiris. Nephthys disguised herself as Isis, seduced Osiris, and they had Anubis.
