General Ambrose Powell Hill was a great general. He was totally loyal to the Confederates. He died chasing a band of Union soldiers. A.P. Hill drove his soldiers on to come to the aid of General Lee. He was 16 when he entered the United States Military Academy in 1842. The war broke out four years later. In June 1847 he graduated. He joined the Union but soon he joined the Confederates. He helped a lot in the battle of Antietam. Lee had been fighting for a long time when Powell's troops arrived. When Lee's troops were about to be attacked Powell rushed in. Powell's troops forced back the Union into retreat.
