Our Trip to The Cloisters

The Cloisters

Fort Tyron Park

New York, N.Y 10090

The Cloisters is a branch of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, it is dedicated to the art of medieval Europe.

When we first started think quest we went on a group trip to a museum called The Cloisters which is located in New York. When we first got there we thought it was a medieval castle but its really parts of many different parts of a castle from all over Europe, brought here by The Metropolitan Museum of Art to create a medieval castle.

We saw artifacts from the medieval times. We saw doorways which told stories and knights who wanted to be buried as close to the altar as possible. I thought it was heaven. There was stained glass every were, holy sculptures, old rugs and carpets that told a story called tapestries.

When we got in the middle of the museums there was a altar almost 50 feet high, with a fountain made of limestone that resembled Jesus on the cross. At the end of our trip we saw the famous Unicorn Tapestry. Then we went outside in the garden and took pictures to include in our website. Everyone tried to remembered the difference between  the Gothic and Romanesque architecture. We really liked it.
