THE STORY OF KING ARTHUR
King Arthur was a
legendary king. He ruled England and created the Knights of the Round Table Camelot The home of
King Arthur’s court. King Pelles The
king that invites Sir Lancelot to his Kingdom during his quest (This is where
sir Lancelot met Queen Elaine) Merlin The wizard
who protects sir Lancelot and King Arthur in their Adventures. Lady of the Lake
The
Keeper of the Mysterious lake and the sword
Excalibur. She presents Excalibur to King Arthur. She also raised Sir
Lancelot and brought him to Camelot with Hector and Lionel to be made knights. Morgan le Fay this
was the stepdaughter to the Warrior King Uther and tried to murder King Arthur. Queen Elaine The girl who Sir Lancelot met while slaying a dragon. She
fell in love with him and bears his son Sir Galahad. When Lancelot goes back to
Guinevere, she died in his honor. Her last wish was to be buried next to Sir
Lancelot. Queen Guinevere King
Arthur’s Queen that Sir Lancelot meets in Camelot. He falls deeply in love
with her. She betrays King Arthur's love with Sir Lancelot. Sword in the stone
Arthur pulled the sword from the stone and became King.
KNIGHTS OF THE ROUNDTABLE Sir Accolon
King
Arthur’s companion in some of his adventures of Camelot. He was ambitious and
brave. Sir Agravain
He
joined up with a plot to kill King Arthur. Sir Lancelot killed him. Sir Bercilak
He was changed into a green knight by Morgan le Fay. He was very generous
and he was able to replace his head when it was chopped off. Sir
Bors Sir Galahad’s friend who he met on the mysterious ship, Sir Galahad was the hero of the most famous quest in the legend of King Arthur and his Knights. He found the Holy Grail that was believed to have been used by Christ at the last supper. A Holy Grail is a chalice or cup that is said to heal wounds. Sir Gareth
was a
brave knight and warrior. He fought many enemies. Sir Gawain
was
wise and courteous. Squires and pages looked up to him as an example. He was a
Knight of the round table and King Arthur’s Nephew. Sir Kay He pretended to pull the sword from the rock. He was king Arthur’s foster brother. Sir Lancelot
was
the most celebrated knight in the entire world. He performed many deeds of great
bravery. He fell in love with Guinevere. He was known throughout the lands as a
dragon slayer. Sir Melligrance He kidnapped Guinevere and took her to his castle. Sir
Lancelot bravely rescued her. Sir Pellinore He was fierce and aggressive he was also a
Knight of the round table. He fought king Arthur before he
was his ally. Sir Percival
The
knight that helped Sir Lancelot find the Holy Grail. Sir Tristram
was a
very powerful knight in battle, even against enormous odds. One of his fiercest
battles was against the determined
knight Sir Marhaus. They fought for two long hours until Sir Tristram triumphed. Sir Uriens of Gore
He was the husband of Morgan le Fay. He was not very smart. Saint
George Fafnir Was fearsome legendary dragon that guarded a cave filled with a great treasure of gold. He was finally defeated by Siegfried. An imaginary animal that looks like a horse with one straight horn growing from its forehead. The term unicorn came from the Latin words Unum, meaning one and cornu, meaning "horn” There were legends of these pure white beasts with one horn in many countries and in ancient times, including India, China, Europe and the Islamic nations. You can find the Latin root corn in English word cornet; which is a type of a musical horn. Robin Hood was a legendary hero in the 12th century. Robin Hood lived in Sherwood Forest in Nottingham, England. Robin’s plan was to rob the rich and give to the poor. Some of his friends were Little John, Friar Tuck, Maid Marion, and his band of merry men. Sherwood Forest was a royal forest in Nottinghamshire, central England. It is most famous as the home of Robin Hood and his merry men. The reason nobody went in the forest was because it was supposed to be haunted by evil spirits. Robin Hood hung wind chimes on the top of trees to frighten the towns people. |
