Heraldry

 

    The study of flags, Coat of arms and family histories. It it includes tracing and recording family genealogy.

 

Coat of arms

A coat of arms or tabard with an embroidered design in the shape of a shield. it was worn by medieval knight over their armor in battle to Identify them. The design was usually a special display of a person, family or  city.  

 

Flags 

Flags are light pieces of cloth, usually rectangular in  shape. They vary in size, color, and design. they are used as an emblem or as a kind of signaling device and are sometimes referred to as banners, ensigns or standards. Flags are usually displayed hanging free from staff, pole, or rope to which they are attached along one edge. Early medieval European flags were usually religious in character, and many kinds of symbols and family emblems were used. Flags were made only for two purposes, for Identification and glory.
