OIL Spill
On Tuesday, January 16 at 10:00 p.m., oil tanker Jessica spilled around 12,000 gallons of oil near the San Critical Island. This is one of the most severe natural disasters Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands ever faced.
The Charles Darwin Foundation is doing a lot to try to help and save the animals. The Foundation workers have been trying to clean and wash the animals that have been covered in sticky oil.
This will possible this could damage food chain ,since some of the animals that live on the islands eat the fish that are probably poisoned. This will mean that the animal that eat the fish may get poisoned too.
Nature is helping to clear the oil spill by pushing most of the oil away with it’s wind.
