National Park Laws

  1. Due to their unique nature, the plants, animals and rocks, must remain undisturbed so as not to cause changes of any kind. It is not permitted to take anything from the islands, with the exception of photos.

2. Each island  has flora, and natural features unique to that island, so that any introduction of foreign organisms, such as animals, seeds, plants and insects, can cause serious problems.

3. The animals of the Galapagos must not be handled  because this might change their behavior and destroy their fearlessness towards people.

4.The native of Galapagos have their own natural way of feeding,  so no food of any kind can be given to the animals .

5. Each year thousands of visitors come to Galapagos. Can you imagine what would happen if each one took a shell, or a plant, or disturbed an animal...?

6. Marine birds, when disturbed or frightened abandon their nests, allowing eggs and chicks to fall to the ground, or leaving them exposed to the sun: so  a distance of at least 2 meters is kept when observing  birds.

7. When visiting the islands, it is prohibited to bring pets or other animals..

8. To maintain the natural state of the islands, no living organism may be brought in from the mainland or transported between islands. Plants, seeds, insects, plagues and diseases are highly dangerous to this fragile island                                                                              9.  Fishing is not allowed aboard tourist boats.

11.Dispose of waste around visitor sites is monitored to protect the animals

All these rules were designed to protect the natural beauty and animal of the islands.
