         History

The animals of the Galapagos are unique.

Darwin's observations of these unique animals still holds today . Their  ability to adapt to their environment, and the variations between races of the same species living on different islands led directly to his theory of natural selection.

We can look back at nearly five centuries of human contact with the Galapagos and say without a doubt that the most important event was Darwin’s visit in 1835.
