Sally Light Footed Crab

Born almost black in color to avoid predation, the Sally Light-Foot Crab grows and gains more vermilion as it grows larger. Nimble-footed, and photogenic, these crabs make excellent models, except they might be shy for close-ups, scurrying sideways, up slopes, and even upside down. Occasionally you may see a crab spitting from near its eye. Actually, the stream of liquid you notice is the Sally Light-Foot Crab’s way of driving out saltwater that enters into the exoskeleton.
