Buildings are like people. They have their own identity. People remember them because they look a certain way. Some buildings are large, some are tall, and some are short. Some buildings even look mean and unfriendly. Buildings have guts, blood vessels, nerves, and skeletons . The guts of a building are the insulations in the walls and roof to help keep the heat inside. The blood vessels, are the plumbing like water pipes. The nerves of a building are the electrical, telephone, and cable wires. Some buildings are now wired for high speed internet. The skeleton of a building is the part that carries everything in the building. The skeleton is called the structure. The structure consists of the foundation, the columns, the beams and, the walls that enclose the building. |
