Why is Expanding in the desert necessary?

Expansion into the desert of Egypt is now occurring  on a large scale. This is in part due to the fact that  deserts consume 90% of Egypt's land. So  expanding into  the desert is the most likely place to build new houses.

Expansion of housing is necessary mainly because the populations of Egypt is growing rapidly.  At the present time the population of Egypt is more then 58 million people . Most of which are living in very over crowded cities. For example there are over 18 million people in the city of Cairo alone. By expanding in the desert Egypt is also able to saves more of its green land for  land for farming .

Building in the desert also has other advantages. It is less expensive and easier to plan for building because you have so much open space and  there is nothing to clear away before you start building.

New technologies have also made building in the desert easier and the use of the material that  are present in the desert make it more affordable to build.
