This is a rock tumbler. A rock tumbler is a small electric machine that turns for days and weeks to polish rocks. Most rock tumblers are available at your nearest craft store for around $20. It usually comes with all the things you need to make hard ugly rocks turn beautiful and shiny. It comes with these things:

This is the barrel. Our kit came with everything mentioned above. The silver material is the grit that is used to tumble with the rocks for 2-4 days before it's changed. | |||||

looks like when all the Step #1 grit is poured into the barrel.

Next we filled the barrel up with water to cover the rocks. Then we put oil around the rim so the grit wouldn't stick to the barrel and the lid would slide on easily. | |||||

This is the tumbler. The rocks are turning although you can't see it. The tumbler will turn 2-4 days before we repeat the steps and add grit #2. | |||||
