Linebackers have three jobs. First they tackle a running back if it is a running play. Second they sack the quarterback. Third they help cover receivers on passing plays. Linebackers can defend in two ways. One is that they choose a player on the offense to cover. The other is each linebacker can cover an area of the field. It is the job of the inside linebacker to cover holes in the offense. He has to stop the blocker or ball carrier. Also the inside linebacker is usually supposed to stop a running play. He usually has to battle it out with a tight end on the defensive team. The linebacker always watches the ball and he tries not to get hit even though he usually does. A linebacker needs to do whatever he has to to get the ball. Also if you want to be a linebacker you must have good vision, hands, agility, speed, and strength.
