Queen Liliuokalani

Queen Liliuokalani was born on September 2, 1838. Lilu means "Smarting"and her last name, Kamakaeha means "sore eye". The chief gave her this name because she had a sore eye. Then a few years later she was given the name Liliuokalani. She went to school at "The Chiefs Children School".

Queen Liliuokalani's palace is the Washington palace.

Queen Liliuokalani was a very strong and firm lady. She spoke very nicely in English and Hawaiian. The newspapers were now saying that the queen must stop the monarchy and try to go into a democracy. Then a few secret organizations formed into the Annexation club. And the Annexation club was now going to take over the monarchy. The Committee made a proclamation saying that they would not keep promises and so every person of T he Committee of Safety signed the Proclamation and tried to get rid of Queen Liliuokalani. Queen Liliuokalani now knew that they were trying to get rid of her. The queen was getting attacked by the committee of safety and she knew she could beat them but she didn't want bloodshed.Now the war has ended and the Committee disposed the monarchy.Queen Liliuokalani surrendered and gave up, so she left the palace. Then the United States let her restore power but the Annexation club made Liliuokalani arrested and imprisoned her at her own palace. After she got out of the palace, on January 24 she announced her throne to the monarchy.
