In 1873 William Lunalilo was the first elected king by beating King Kalakaua in an election and a little more year after he became the first elected king of Hawaii.

As king he created Lunalilo's Home for poor elderly homeless Hawaiians on Febuary 3,1883.

Lunalilo lived in Ali'iolani Hale.
