King Kalakaua is known as the Merry Monarch because he is very jolly at all times and was a great ruler.

Bron on November 16, 1836 and died in January 20, 1891.He went to Chef's children School till he was 17.As a young boy Kalakaua always wanted to be a ruler till he was in an election agaist Lunalilo and loss. Then he went up agaist Queen Emma this time he won.

King Kalakaua was the only king of Hawaii to travel the world.King Kalakaua traveled to places like China. He has gone to places all around the world but he liked the Chinese Emperor's nephew to marry his niece. The Chinese Emperor sent a letter that replied to the offer King Kalakaua suggestion and said no.King Kalakaua respected his offer and said nothing about it.
