The Story of the Web Dominators

On Tuesday, October 3rd, six young fifth grade students: Patrick Parker, Lucia Simmons, Lexi Vangsnes, Matthew Sutton, Luke Burton, and Jacob Daffner, the Principal Randy Morgan and the technology resource teacher, Sylvia Parks, met in the Waterford Elementary music room, on the verge of a Thinkquest Junior Adventure.  This group of children would work together for five months as the "Web Dominators".

We selected a multitude of topics to choose from including Albert Einstein, space travel, and World War II.  We finally came to a decision - aviation was our best idea by far.  But when it came to choosing subtopics, we had some disagreements.  Most of us had other ideas in mind.  Lexi liked learning about famous women, Lucia liked mystery, Jacob and Luke were interested in military uses, Patrick liked history, and Matt was interested in outer space.  At last, we connected all of these interests with our main topic and everyone was satisfied.

Our mission was to create a website.  Our goal was to work as a team and make a website greater than any other!!!  We searched for information everywhere from Yahooligans to Dogpile, from encyclopedias to the Guinness Book of World Records (Seriously!).

By January, we were running out of time.  We only had until late February.  Some of us hadn't even finished researching.  A few of us had great pictures.  Some of us had wonderful summaries.  We had to learn to work as a team and help each other through the tough parts.

We are proud of the hard work we've done.  Our team will be remembered as a hardworking group, sticking together ......the Web Dominators!!
