The civil war happened from 1861-1865.

The civil war was started because the south wanted slavery and the north did not. The united states split into the union and the confederacy, the confederacy wahted slavery, the union didn't. The confederacy consisted of Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georia, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, and Arkansas. The union consisted of Oreon, California, Kansas, Missouri, Kentucky, West Virginia, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Minisota, Wisconson, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York, Maine, Rhode island, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massetusets, New Jersy, Delaware, Maryland, and Conniticut. The union had a very strong army and they won becausee of it. The confederacy didn't have a bad army, but it wasn't as good as the union. By the end of the civil war, there wasn't slavery any more. The civil war ended slavery in the united states, but it was a very horrible war.
