Landmarks One of the amazing land marks is Mount Fuji. This mount is about 70 miles west of Tokyo. It is a volcanoe, although it is snow-capped. It once could be seen from Tokyo,but now with all the pollution you can only see it once a week.Another is Tokyo tower. This famous tower is actually a radio and television brodcastigtower. The shrine is dedicated to"Meji Emporer" He,in 1868 moved the capital to Tokyo.His wife is also honored.Many other famous world landmarks are in Tokyo too. Sports are a big part of life in Tokyo.It has the largest sports stadium in Japan. The olympic games in 1964 were held here.The thrilling national sport is Sumo Wrestling.Each tournament determine who the champion is,or yokozuna.Kendo is also a sport.It is tipikly like fencing,but you use special two handed swords.Martial arts is a major sport.Some types are aikdo,Jujitsu, Karate,and Judo.Just like Americans Japaneese people love Baseball.In Tokyo people work hard to be winners in baseball. Tokyo's population is 8,353,674,the metropolitan areas are 11,618,281.Tokyo is the 4th largest city in the world. The only cities with more people, are Mexico City,Seoul,andMoscow. Only two percent of Tokyo are Christians.Christmas, Therefore, is not a big holiday. They do however, exchange gifts on December 25.Shinto and Budissim are celebrated by most Japaneese people.Japanese furnishings are traditionaly low and simple. Useualy tables are only a few inches high.They sleep on futons,or low lying matresses,or folded down closets. The Ginza is Tokyo's biggest shopping strip.The lion statue in the middle atracts many visitors a year. this place is so big they call it the Ginza district. They eat rices and meats. they love their great food.
