Mausoleum of Halicarnassus
It is located in Bodrum, Turkey. The mausoleum was made in 350 B.C. The structure was very plan. The height of the mausoleum was 45m (140 ft). The structure of the mausoleum isn't really beautiful but the decorations are what bring the bueaty. It had statues of people, lions, horses,and other animals. The mausoleum is special because it isn't dedicated to the Greek Gods. The only thing left is the ruins of the foundation and fragments of statue. On the top of the roof was a statue of a chariot pulled by four horses. The mausoleum is a tomb for a king. For 16 centuries it stayed in perfect condition until a earthquake damaged the roof and colonnades. The knights of St John of Malta invaded it and stole the bricks and made a crusader castle. The castle still stands today. So today in Bodrum, Turkey the only things left are the foundation and fragments of statues.The Mausoleum of Halicarnassus.
