OVERVIEW

Have you ever heard of Cape Cod, MA? Have you ever wondered who discovered it, what types of flowers grow best there, what shells and sea life you can expect to find on its beaches, what a typical summer holiday there would be like? The development of a community recreation area was initiated by an introductory geometry sixth grade math module, which has been expanded into an interdisciplinary unit.  Concepts have been extended to include all aspects of our middle school curriculum, in relationship to our geographical region, Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Our jobs as site designers were to develop a park that would attract tourists to and residents of Cape Cod. Our journey has taken us past our original math project to design a park and create elements based on geometric computations of area and perimeter. We have named our website CapeView Commons.

On our site, you can view the natural resources we see everyday, visit a typical holiday event, create your own Cape Cod crafts, design your own park, learn about our historical, natural and architectural wonders and of course answer the math problems on each page. It is our hope that students and teachers can visit our site to learn more about our home base, Bourne MA. If you have questions about what we like to do as students on Cape Cod, email our teachers and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Thank you for visiting us, come back and visit often.
