OREGON HISTORY

The Coastal Indians made their houses out of cedar. The roof have some bare spots that are made for the fires smoke to go out. It can also be used to escape from danger inside their house. They lived on the western part of the cotenet.

Also, the houses have an oval shape door about one foot above the ground. The reason the doors were above the ground and oval is because the enemy would try to go in the house and they would bend over to get in. Then the people would hit the enemy over the head.
