History of Bicycles

Sketches of a bicycle were made by Italian artist/inventor Leonardo da Vinci, but was first made by Baron Karl von Drais. The first bicycle was a velocipede with no pedals. Later on, they became ordinaries with a huge front wheel and a small rear wheel. Then they became safties with equal size wheels and ran on a chain.

Bicycling stopped in the 1890's, but it came back in the 1970's due to gasoline shortage.
