The Hourglass Dolphin is an oceanic dolphin. It can be found in the southern hemisphere. The Hourglass Dolphin has a sturdy body and a extremely short snout. The dorsal fin is curved and tapered to a point, high and of medium size.  The pectorals are also curved and tapered to a point and long. The flukes have a medium sized notch. There are 28 teeth on each jaw.   Dark black covers the dorsal area and the lower flanks. The ventral area is white, from the chin to the caudal peduncle. There is a white band stretching from the snout to the peduncle. The dorsal fin, the flukes, and the flippers are black.
