The Franciscana Dolphin is a coastal dolphin. It can be found in Argentina, and in Tropic of Capricorn close to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and the Uruguayan coasts. The Franciscana Dolphin has a rather bulky shape, with a small head. The beak is long and thin. The back of this dolphin species is a pale brown , with a lighter colored stomach. Although there are some in this species have been all white. Some even people call them the ghosts of the sea. This dolphin has a triangular dorsal fin, towards the middle of the back. The pectoral fins are paddled-shaped. The flukes of this dolphin sharp extremities and a well defined median notch. There are 50 to 60 small coned shaped teeth on each side of the jaw.

Food: small benthetic species of Scianidae, shrimp, and cephalopods
