There are several areas in which dolphins are plentiful. Dolphins in these areas are referred to as Oceanic Dolphins, Coastal Dolphins, and River Dolphins.

Some dolphins can live there whole lives and never see the end of the oceans. There are 14 species of dolphins that have a full-time life in the oceans.

Because of the plentiful plankton, many dolphins are attracted to coastal waters. The 13 species of dolphin that live in coastal waters are very different.

Did you know that some dolphins live in rivers?  The six species that call this special habitat home have very different histories. These bizarre looking dolphins are perhaps the most endangered of all.
