Alimentary Canal- Passage in a body that food  passes through and digested.

Anus- The opening at the lower end of the alimentary canal.

Careen- To lurch from side to side.

Caudal Fin- A caudal fin is like a tail.

Caudal Peduncle- A caudal peduncle is like a tail 

Cephalopods- Having a distinct head with a beak and muscular tentacles that usually  have suckers on them.

Cetaceans - The group of mammals to which dolphins belong. The word comes from the Greek word cetus, meaning whole.

Convex- Curving out like a surface sphere.

Court-  Try to get love of someone or something; to seek a mate.

Crystalline- The lens of a vertebrate eye.

Demarcation Line- Marking or setting the boundaries or limits.

Dolphin infanticide - the killing of an infant in order to mate with the mother. 

Epithelium- Membranous tissue, usually in a single layer.

Extremities- The outer most or farthest point.

Falcate-curved and tapered to a point. 

Fondle- To handle or stroke with affection.

Foraging - searching for food in a scavenging like way. 

Fusiform- Tapering at each end: spindle-shaped.

Gestation - the amount of time that a female is pregnant. 

Glands - where the milk is stored on the female.

Glandular- Functioning as a gland. 

Gregarious Fish -  A group, herd, or school of fish.

Mammery-  Of or pertaining to a breast or mama.

Melon - the forehead of a dolphin mammery.

Membranous- Made of or similar to the membrane.

Mesopelagic Fish-A fish species, including such fish as Atlantic Silver Cod, Silver Hake, White Hake, Pollock, and Fourbeard Rockling.

Mesonychids- Hoofed wolf-like animals who are the dolphins' most likely ancestors. About the size of a dog.

Migratory Fish - Characterized by migration.

Morphology- The biological study of the form and structure of a living organism. 

Muzzles- The forward, projecting part of the head, including the jaws and noses.

Notch- A v-shaped cut out.

Plankton - The smallest living organisms.

Respitory- Pertaining to, affecting, or used in respiration.

Robust- Powerfully built, sturdy, husky.

Sacks- Where the baby is kept in the to be mom.

Suckling- To young to be weaned.

Tapers- A gradual decrease in size; to get thinner near the end.

Thorax- A corresponding part in animals.

Ventral - of, on, or near the belly. 

Womb- The uterus of a female dolphin.
