Probe means
to search and explore with great thoroughness. Probes are used to collect
pictures.  They are also used to collect soil samples and rock samples.
The
probes orbit planets and some are set out for over 100 years! Some of the
most important probes are Voyager, Galileo, Viking, and Mariner.
