Mercury 8 and 9

Just as the other Mercury missions mercury 8 and 9 had a main objective to put a man in orbit and survey his reaction. Mercury 8 was launched on October 3, 1962. Mercury 8's crew member was Walter Schirra. The Mercury capsule for this mission was Sigma 7. Schirra stayed in orbit for 9 hours and splashed down 9 hours, 13min, and 11 seconds after launch. Mercury 8 had been a complete success.

 Mercury 9 was launched on May 15,1963. Mercury 9's one and only astronaut was L. Gordan Cooper. The mercury capsule in this mission was Faith 7. Cooper was in or bit for one day. Faith 7 splashed down on May 16,1963. Total mission duration was 1day, 10 hours,19 minutes,49 seconds and was a complete success.
