John Glenn was the first American man in space, and the first man ever to orbit the Earth. John Glen orbited the Earth 3 times in 5 hours. John Glenn was born on July 18, 1921 in Cambridge, Ohio. He graduated High School in 1939 at New Concord High. He attended Muskingum College. He dropped out of college in his second year to enter N. A. C. P. ( naval aviation Cadet Program.)3...2...1...0! John Glenn blasted off in February of 1962. This was the very first American orbital space flight. It was a problem free flight. At the end of the 5 hour historic flight he touched down in the Pacific Ocean. He went back to space in the Space Shuttle Columbia mission of 1998. Where he became the oldest person ever to enter space.
