Famous Space Explorers

Ever since the beginning of man, people have stared up at the heavens and wondered what was up there. That curiosity started space exploration. Some people have explored space without ever leaving the ground. This space exploration started with people like Galileo, Copernicus and William Herschel. Men and women discovered much about what they could see with the naked eye and many of the things they could see with telescopes. From there the next step was to explore space from the heavens, sending unmanned probes, and eventually human beings, into space. Most of the famous space explorers, have become famous in the last 40 years. All of the manned missions started with the first man in space: Yuri Guragin. Some of the first Americans in space included John Glenn, Neil Armstrong and many others. Now there are so many astronauts, there names are not even household words.
