Apollo Missions

On July 16,1969 that historical one small step for a man and one giant leap for mankind took place. That's right you guessed it, we had put a man on the moon. The Apollo program was started in 1963 and lasted until 1972. The Apollo program consisted of 17 missions five of which were unmanned. Only two of the manned missions were unsuccessful (1 and 13). But Apollo still succeeded in putting a man on the moon. The types of Apollo craft used were the Saturn5 launch vehicle, the Saturn 1B launch vehicle, the command/service module (CSM), and the lunar module (LM). The Apollo program supposedly ended the "Space Race" because we had beat the Russians to the moon.
