. Launched on July 26, 1971 Apollo 15's crew included David Scott, Alfred Warden, and James Irwin. Apollo 15 reached the moon on July 30. The lunar module began it's descent and touched down 12 minutes later. The astronauts gathered samples from the low dark plains, the Apennine highlands, and the Hadley Rille area. 

 In this mission the astronauts used a Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV) for their traverses over the lunar surface. The LRV's top speed on the moon was 12 km a hour. The LRV traveled a total distance of 27.9 km on the lunar surface. Apollo 15's astronauts collected 76 kg of lunar material. After days of research and experiments, the lunar module blasted off the moon on August 2,1971.

 Apollo 15's astronauts were on the moon for a total of 66 hours, 54minutes, and 53 seconds. Apollo 15's command module splashed down on August 7,1971. Apollo 15 had a total duration of 295 hours, 11 minutes, 53 seconds and was a complete success.
