Apollo 12 was the second lunar mission and was launched on November 14, 1969. Apollo 12's astronauts Included Charles Conrad jr, Richard Gordon, and Alan Bean. Upon reaching the moon, Apollo12's lunar module (Intrepid) made a precision landing using automatic guidance.

The lunar module touched down on an area of the moon called the Ocean of Storms. Apollo12's crew was to collect air, geological, and gas samples. Most of the samples collected were basalts and dark igneous rocks. Many photographs and TV broadcasts were transmitted but television coverage was lost due to technical difficulties with the camera.

Apollo 12's crew departed from the moon on November 20,1969. Upon departure the crew ejected the Intrepid and remote guided it to impact on the moon to create seismic activity for a experiment placed on the moon before.

Apollo 12's command/service module (Yankee Clipper) splashed down on November 24, 1969. Apollo 12 achieved all of it's planned goals.
