Alan Bean was born on March 15, 1932, and has done many things in space. He was on Apollo 12, making him the 4th man on the moon. He spent 30 hours on the moon, along with Charles Conrad. He and Conrad technically found life on the moon. Bean and Conrad brought back parts of Surveyor III, and on one of the parts scientists found a colony of bacteria living in the foam insulation of a TV camera. Bean's last flight was aboard Skylab III. He commanded the second of three manned missions on Skylab, America's first space station. Bean spent more than 59 days, from July 28 until September 25, 1973. Mr. Bean is a full time artist. His pictures show his experiences in space. He resigned from NASA on June 26, 1981.
