Earth is the only planet in our solar system that we could live in. But the size of Earth is just average. It is bigger than Pluto, Mars, Mercury, and Venus. It is smaller than Neptune, Uranus, Jupiter, and Saturn. Earth could fit inside Jupiter 1,400 times. Earth is about 24900 miles around at its equator. If you went 60 miles per hour all the way around the Earth on the equator, it would take you 17 days to circle the whole Earth at the equator.

The core of the Earth is extremely hot. Scientist think that the core is made of metals. The cores hottest part can reach 10,000° F. That is about the temperature of the suns surface.

Things are much cooler at the top of the crust. Earth's average temp. is 60° F. The hottest recorded temperature was 136° F in Libya. The coldest temp. ever recorded is -127° F in Antarctica around the South Pole.
