Custer and Reno 1876 |
|
The Battle of the Little Big Horn was fought on June 25th, 1876. It took place by the Little Big Horn River in Montana. It was a battle between the Sioux (Soo) Indians and the American cavalrys.
Custer and another Lieutenaut named Reno had around 850 men and Indian scouts with them. Custer wouldn't have known where the Sioux were if it wasn't for his Indian scouts who went ahead of the troops and spied. When the battle started, Custer and some men went to the right of the Indian village. Reno and some men went to the left to attack the village. Reno was instantly surrounded by the Sioux and had to fight. Finally he could make his way up a hill where he had more of a chance of hurting Sioux. Reno stayed there all night and prepared for another attack at daytime.
After his planned attack, Reno could make his way back to Custer, but when he got there Custer was dead and around him were all of his troops. Everyone had been killed except for one scout.
Before Custers death he had been surrounded by the Sioux Indians. Custer was among the last who fell. He had been shot through the body and the head. Most of people had been mutilated. Reno and what was left of his men cared for the wounded and buried the dead.
