Airplane- A metal figure that is shaped like a bird. It flies people to different places in the world, and has seats in it. It is powered by an engine and is flown by a pilot.
 

Antibiotics- medicine that was created to help your body fight off an infection.
 

Computer-a device that people use to type things on it. It allows people to save information, perform calculations and communicate.
 

Car- a machine that is powered by an engine. A person pushes a lever and the car goes or stops. It can hold at the most about five or six people. It contains a wheel to help you steer.
 

Camera (daguerreotype)- A device that allows you to capture an exact likeness of an object.  When you press a button, a flash happens and it copies a scene onto a film. When the film is processed the scene you copied appears on a paper-like thing.
 

Cash Register- A device that you hold money in. You press a button to open the drawer that you put the money in. A device for recording the amount of money received and a money drawer for exhibiting the amount of the sale. Mostly used in stores.
 

News Conference- a meeting someone calls to tell people from the press about an event that took place.
 

Radio- A device that allows you to listen to music and other people’s voices.
 

Restaurant- A place where you go to eat.  People cook the food and you pay them.
 

Telephone (phone)- A device that allows you to talk to people far away from were you are located.  You talk into a mouthpiece and the voice transports through wires and into someone else’s phone.
 

Television (TV)- A large/small rectangular box that projects movies and shows onto the screen. You can change the channel and choose different programs to watch.
 

Traffic Light- A machine that directs cars and trucks by the use of colored lights. Red means stop, green means go, and yellow means slow down.
 

Toilet- a chair like device. It allows you to eliminate your bodies waste material. It has a lever that allows the waste to go through pipes to a sewer.
 

Washing Machine- A machine that washes clothes.  You put the clothes and soap in and it adds water, moves the clothes around, and then rinses them.
 

Zipper- Something that allows you to open and close things by locking little hinges together. It can be metal or plastic. It is usually on coats and backpacks, sometimes sweaters.
