Vice Admiral Chuichi Nagumo was in charge of the attack. | The Japanese submarines were part of the Pearl Harbor attack.The Japanese submarines' mission was to enter Pearl Harbor without being seen and cause as much damage as they could before being detected. The submarines were used for special operations against ships in enemy harbors. Type A midget submarines displaced 46 tons of water were 78 feet long and carried two 45cm diameter torpedeos. Submarines tried to sneak into Pearl Harbor but ships destroyed them. | ![]() At 6:00am the first wave of Japanese planes headed off to Pearl Harbor. The attack by sixty-six torpedo bombers, and horizontal bombers lasted from 7:55am to 8:25am.About fifteen dive bombers attacked from 8:25am to 8:40am. About forty eight horizontal bombers launched a heavy attack that lasted from 8:40am to 9:15am. About twenty seven dive bombers attacked from 9:15am 9:45am. | The USS Arizona was bombed alot of times. (The battleships Maryland, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania were repaired.
