Should we keep building up military arms? Are we balanced in our military or are we going over board?
Having a military is okay because we need to protect our country. But if we have too much we would be showing militarism because we are only spending on weapons and not spending on other things the are useful or needed, like caring for health and providing for the homeless.
In World War II, Germany had made up a new way to fight called Blitzkrieg. They also had an army of 500,000 men. They also ignored the surrender terms from World War I.
In the US now, the Pentagon is thinking about whether they should agree to a $30 billion missile defense system. It is a $20 million bullet that is the nose of the rocket. The bullet is known as the exoatmospheric kill vehicle or interceptor. Less that three minutes after it launches, it will be traveling at 4,000 mph and 1,500 miles from it's target.
Now today the United States, spends $276,300,000,000 on military weapons. The US is one of the top 30 countries that spend on their military.
