On February 9, 2001 at around 1:45 PM the Pearl Harbor-based USS Greeneville submarine collided with the 174-foot Ehime Maru from Japan. The Ehime Maru was sunk and nine people are still missing. There were 20 crew members, 2 instructors, and 13 students. The missing people are 2 engineers, 2 teachers, 4 students, and 1 crew member.
