Did you know that California Grass was used to camouflage military installations in World War II?

The California grass (Brachiaria mutica) is also called para grass. It is an invasive (growing rapidly) and an alien plant from Africa. The California grass grows from three to ten feet long. It can be found growing near water and moist wet soil. The California grass can conceal many things when it is grown thick enough.

Today it causes problems in water basins and agricultural fields. Chemical controls are not known to eradicate the California Grass. It was first used to control the cattails, but then it grew out of control. The California grass was also used by water birds for food. It can overgrow most trees and shrubs.
