Did you know that the bullfrog (buffo) was brought to Hawaii to eat pesky insects in the sugar cane fields?

The common bullfrog (Rana Catesbeiana) or buffo, as they call it in Hawaii, is another wetland animal. The bullfrog has rough brown skin with many warts on it. This amphibian is unique because of its peculiar tongue which it uses to catch its main food, insects.

The bullfrog was originally brought to Hawaii from tropical America. It lives in marshes, lawns, and waterways such as ponds, streams, lakes, etc. The buffo lays its eggs inside a jelly-like rope. The eggs soon hatch into tiny, black tadpoles.

The buffo has two sets of eyelids that also makes it unique.
