Did you know that this shrimp has amazing climbing ability?

The Opaekala-'ole, a spineless freshwater shrimp, is endemic to Hawaii. It grows to about two inches in length and it feeds on microscopic plant and animal matter. It is golden-brown, dark green to black in color. The Opaekala-'ole was a popular source of food of the early Hawaiians.

The Opaekala-'ole likes to live in the upper stream reaches in fast flowing water. It is known to be able to climb upstream along the edge of a waterfall.
