The Velociraptor was a vicious predator. It lived about 80 million years ago in what is now Mongolia and Northern China. It ran swiftly and moved stealthily to stalk its prey. The Velociraptor was about 20 inches tall at the hip and six feet long. Scientists believe that Velociraptors may have hunted in packs. The Velociraptor's long tail may have helped the dinosaur balance when it was running or making sharp turns. To kill its prey the Velociraptor could pounce or just run in and attack. It uses its special claws and teeth in killing its prey. The claws are six inches long and are curved.
