There are four kinds of horseshoe crabs in the world. Three kinds
of them live along the shores of the East Indies and South East Asia.
TheTachpleus gigas lives from Singapore to the Torres Straits between
New Guinea and Australia. Another kind, Tachpleus tridentatus,
known as the Japanese horseshoe lives around the Sea of Japan and
the South China Sea. Third, the Carcinoscorpius rotundicauda
lives along the coasts of Burma past Singapore and the Philippine Island
to Japan and the adjacent shores of China. Last but not least is
the Limulus polyphemus. It lives on the east coast of North
America from the Gulf of Mexico to Maine. More live in Delaware Bay
than any other place in the world.
