Scary World Reports

Nova Scotia - A Mr. Thomas Surette was told about buried treasure by a man who disappeared as soon as he finished speaking. Mr. Surette tried to find it, but was stopped by unusual happenings. Once, trees fell mysteriously across his path, nearly killing him and another time, hundreds of crows came and flew wildly around him, scaring him away.

Ireland -- In the 1300’s, Earl Gerald of Munster owned the castle Mullaghmast and fought against the English trying to rule Ireland. Locals report that the Earl is seen every seven years rising from Lake Gur on a shining white horse to ride over his lands in the moonlight. When the horse’s silver shoes are worn as thin as a cat’s ear, people believe Earl Gerald will rise to rid Ireland of English invaders forever.

Ghosts cannot cross over running water! Stories exist about a man or woman boarding a bus late at night only to vanish just before the bus crosses a bridge

If you want to see a ghost, call one by name or walk through a graveyard whistling.

To make a ghost go away, simply hold up a mirror and the ghost will run from it’s own reflection. Imagine, a ghost afraid of itself!

Horses are known to be sensitive animals that can see ghosts and spirits.

All ghosts are supposed to return to their grave at sunrise.

If a ghost tells of buried treasure, to retrieve it successfully, the seeker must not speak, laugh or sweat while digging!

Victims of drowning often appear and then vanish, leaving small puddles of water or seaweed behind.

Local Ghosts

The Myer House

"Thank you for saving the house!"

February 19, 2001 reporters of The Ghost Dispatch investigated the apparence of a ghost at the Myer House.

The Victorian Myer house in Florissant MO (a St. Louis suburb) was built in 1869, as a summer home. The husband died just after it was being built but his wife oversaw the construction and finished the house.

Front Porch

If you look carefully at the picture of the front porch there is a bright blue cloud in the lower left corner. Could it be the ghost of Mrs. Myer protecting her property?

The house was purchased by Historic Florissant in the 1970's when it was threatened with demolition for highway construction. Margaret Achembault, the granddaughter of August, a friend of Mrs. Myer's who helped her finish building the house, was inspecting the run down property. She was surprised to hear a woman's voice say very clearly "Thank you for saving the house!"

Front Balcony

One shopkeeper saw a tall woman dressed in a long dark dress walk down the hallway she thought it was one of her coworkers but then it disappeared.

West Side of the Myer House

A woman ghost has been seen walking in the upstairs hallway. The ghost may be Mrs. Myers or one of her daughters who had died in the house. Mrs. Meyer's son ended up losing the family money and the house was sold. Mrs. Myers moved in with friends.
