Planets, Moons and Stars

Welcome to the home of the planets, constellations, and moons.  Come and explore space created more than 4.6 billion years ago and see the unseen.  Many of the planets have Roman names that can be translated into Greek names.  For example Pluto is a Roman name, but in Greek Mythology Pluto is Hades.

Our Earth is a very small portion of a vast system of planets, satellites, and constellations that revolve around the sun.  Nine Planets orbit the sun and move in a west to east direction.  All the planets except the outer most move in roughly the same plane.  While Earth has only one moon most planets have several moons or satellites orbiting around them.

Constellations in astronomy are any of the 88 imagined groupings of stars that appear in the night sky.  They are named after religious or mythological people, animals, or objects.
